Saltbush – Uniting the Scattered Community, seeks to encourage and connect Uniting Christian communities,  irrespective of size or location and work at all the layers of our church to shape communities for the present future.

Saltbush seeks to enable us as a broad church to embrace the reality of being Christian community in the 21st. century and to affirm diverse ways for people across the land to belong; both to gather and be in mission together. Saltbush seeks to work with individuals, lay leaders and Christian communities who are willing to confront traditions and habits of the past to shape new intentional gatherings for the present future!

Our team is made up of Ministers and Deacons, some of who work in specific regions and others who work both online and on the ground across the land.  Saltbush is not just a website nor a resource, but real people in relationship with those seeking to explore faith and life together.

Christmas 1 Massacre of the Innocents Matthew 2:13-23

The Christmas story (without the sentimentality) speaks into our human condition.  Our frustrations, fear, joy and anxieties. Sadly it also speaks into the remorseless violence that we have witnessed over thousands of years and continues today.  Into our human frailty God breaks-in, as God is being God, the One who brings love, peace, joy and hope in the form of a baby.

Advent 3 Is Jesus the One Matthew 11:2-11

John’s questioning whether Jesus is the one or should he wait for another, reflects the raw honesty of the Gospels. It allows us the freedom to question, explore and discover who this Jesus is in our own lives and the life of the Christian community. As Jesus answers John, he also answers us, ‘see and hear for yourselves’.

Advent 2 – A Voice Crying Out – Matthew 3: 1-12

We continue in Advent as we begin to hear the voice crying out in the wilderness - John the Baptist.  In our Word Around the Bush we think about our expectations and hopes alongside times of uncertainty and searching.  In our liturgy for this week, we also use John's cry as our cry in prayer for others and the world.

You can receive...

Salt in the Wound

Welcome to a journey with Jacob! This is an uncomfortable set of conversations. Like salt in a wound, they sting and irritate before they can soothe and heal. We hope you will sit with them – on your own or, preferably, with a small group of people with whom you are willing to explore your life and faith.

Talking About Salt

This is our publication available for any congregation or group who are willing to have some discussion around who you are, how you gather and how you live out your faith.

Growing Intentional Christian Communities of Practice

We delve into the Gospels, think about our own stories, talk together in small and large groups and challenge ourselves to take seriously the urging for the church in the 21st Century to be way more intentional about its life.

The Great Unravelling

Six conversations as part of the book: Joining God in the Great Unravelling by Alan J. Roxburgh. These conversations are not a study guide, but an invitation to open ourselves to deeply consider who and how we, the church, our christian communities, are participating in the ways of God beyond ourselves.

You can attend...

Saltbush @ Worship
